Kingsbury was still mostly farmland when the Metropolitan Railway extended its Stanmore branch through the area and opened a station here in December 1932. That single event set off the rapid suburban housebuilding — mostly 1930s semis — that still makes up most of Kingsbury today. The station itself has never moved, but has changed hands three times without a single length of track being relaid: Metropolitan line until 1939, then Bakerloo line until 1979, then Jubilee line from 1979 to now, following the various reorganisations of London’s north-west Underground branches over the 20th century.
